The Plums

A man wanders the streets of the East Village looking for a gift to make up to his wife for eating the plums she was saving in the freezer. Inspired by William Carlos Williams’ poem “This Is Just to Say.”

Official Selection, Oaxaca Film Fest

Director’s statement

An understated comedy, shot on a cold day in April 2018, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the East Village, with my brother, Matteo, in his first onscreen performance. Our cousin Mario Viele, of The Passengers, joined us for lunch and makes a cameo. In black and white, with three takes on George and Ira Gershwin’s “But Not for Me.”
