New Cities

New Cities is ten photographs taken in Strasbourg on one day, 27 January 2018, each joined with lines from a poem I wrote that same day. The pictures and the poem came from the same walk and were made as one piece.

I spent the day alone in the old center, looking for someone I knew I wouldn’t find. Read in order around the room, the poem follows that walk: the river, the cathedral, Petite France.

That year I was an American studying in Germany and going home to my family in Oaxaca on breaks.
